​Encourage patien​ts to keep moving to keep t​heir brain sharp

​Do your patients worry about forgetting names, appointments, or where they left their keys? It happens to everyone, young and old. But repeated or frequent forgetfulness can sometimes be a sign of one or more factors, including Alzheimer's or dementia, depression, side effects of medications, stroke, poor nutrition, stress, or a lack of physical activity.1

Three things your patients can do today

Encourage your patients to take these three steps to keep their brains and bodies active and healthy.

  1. Get moving  
    • Working on crossword puzzles, playing cards, and reading books are commonly recommended as good ways to “exercise" the brain. Patients can also keep their brain healthy and their memory sharp by moving their feet! Brisk walking or moderate physical activity can increase the size of the brain region involved in forming memories (hippocampus). Even if patients haven't exercised in years, it's not too late to reap the rewards.1
