PROMISe ID requirement suspension
Effective April 13, 2020, the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) is suspending its PROMISe ID requirement for rendering services to Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) members for the duration of the COVID-19 public health emergency.
DHS is suspending:
- the requirement that an ordering, referring, attending, or prescribing provider have a PROMISe ID as a condition of claim payment;
- the denial of claims for services to CHIP members due to the absence of a PROMISe ID for a rendering provider’s service location billed as long as the provider has a PROMISe ID at another location.
Once the public health emergency has ended, Independence will follow DHS’ direction to lift the process suspensions.
Providers should check the DHS COVID-19 website and the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s COVID-19 website for updates.
Please contact DHS at 1-800-537-8862, and select option 2, then option 4, and then option 2 for provider enrollment, revalidation, enrollment fee, site visit, or criminal background check questions.
