The Northeast region of the United States is approaching the annual
respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) season. The onset ranges from November 2018
through March 2019. RSV is the most common cause of bronchiolitis and pneumonia
among children younger than one year. During RSV season, Independence will
approve the monthly administration of Synagis? for children in
accordance with the most recent recommendations from the American Academy of
Pediatrics (AAP).
It is mandatory for all participating providers to obtain
Synagis? for Independence members through ACRO Pharmaceutical
Services, an independent company.
In October, detailed information about ordering Synagis?, as well
as the complete list of recommendations for Synagis? from the AAP,
will be communicated via Partners in Health UpdateSM. If you
have questions about the Synagis? distribution program, please
contact Customer Service at 1-800-ASK-BLUE.
