Independence Blue Cross (Independence) and Premier Orthopaedics (Premier), a
full-service physician owned orthopedic practice with locations throughout
Chester and Delaware counties, reached a new five-year agreement making Premier
a participant in Independence's Facilitated Health Networks (FHN) model. The
agreement became effective October 1, 2018.
The Independence FHN model is a collaborative approach that is focused on
bringing health insurers, hospitals, and doctors together to improve the
quality and lower the costs of healthcare in the region. As a participant,
Premier has agreed to implement site of service and episodes of care programs,
which places accountability on their physicians for the patients' entire
episode of care, ensuring:
- appropriate diagnostic tests are completed;
- procedures are performed in the most appropriate setting;
- all follow-up care results in an optimal outcome for Independence
members.
The agreement illustrates a continued commitment between Independence and
Premier to work together ensuring members receive the highest quality of care
from providers who are highly-engaged in the process.
