This article is to clarify that precertification is no longer required for the following services for AmeriHealth New Jersey members: in-network outpatient non-serious mental health visits; in-network outpatient treatment for drug dependency. This aligns with the existing New Jersey no-precertification requirement for serious mental illness and alcohol abuse/dependency outpatient professional services. Please note that precertification continues to be required for intensive outpatient programs and partial hospitalization programs (outpatient rehabilitation) for serious mental health, non-serious mental health, and alcohol/drug abuse and dependency treatment.
