AmeriHealth has developed a new policy to communicate our coverage position on autonomic nervous system (ANS) testing. ANS testing can be used as a diagnostic tool to evaluate if a patient?s signs and symptoms correlate with autonomic dysfunction and then assist in the clinical decision-making process.

For more information and a complete list of medical necessity criteria for ANS testing, please refer to Medical Policy #07.03.23: Autonomic Nervous System Testing, which is currently posted as a Notification and will go into effect August 1, 2017.
