Effective July 1, 2013, AmeriHealth will adopt the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) base units for anesthesia services for all anesthesia services with an assigned base code value. This change will specifically impact reimbursement for the following American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) procedure codes: 00147, 00326, 00537, 01924, 01925, 01926, 01932, 01933, 01963, and 01968. This policy change has been available for review by providers and their office staff since it was posted on our website as a Policy Notification on April 2, 2013, and will be reflected in Claim Payment Policy #00.01.14j: Reporting and Documentation Requirements for Anesthesia Services.
