As previously communicated in a Partners in Health UpdateSM article, beginning January 1, 2020, AmeriHealth New Jersey is replacing the Select Drug Program® Formulary with its Value Formulary for individuals, small groups, and large groups as follows:

Small groups | Effective for small employer groups on the date of renewal, beginning January 1, 2020, and thereafter, with no exceptions. |
Large groups | Will be an available option for large groups via benefit exception. |
Details
The Value Formulary is designed to include all therapeutic categories and provide physicians with prescribing options. It includes generic drugs and a defined list of brand-name drugs that have been chosen for formulary coverage based on their reported medical effectiveness, positive results, and value.
In addition, the formulary is reviewed periodically to add new drugs and to remove brand drugs when a generic equivalent becomes available. When a generic equivalent becomes available, the brand drug may be subject to a change in cost-share. Providers were sent notification in the mail of these changes.
