Updates on AmeriHealth Select and Value drug program formulary

​​​​​​​AmeriHealth HMO, Inc., AmeriHealth Insurance Company of New Jersey, and AmeriHealth Administrators (collectively, AmeriHealth) have made changes to the Select Drug Program® Formulary and Value Formulary. The changes below will be effective January 1, 2024.

Flovent® HFA/Diskus

Flovent HFA/Diskus is an inhaled corticosteroid indicated for maintenance treatment of asthma as prophylactic therapy in adult and pediatric patients aged 4 years and older.

Effective January 1, 2024, Flovent HFA/Diskus will no longer be the preferred inhaled corticosteroid on the Select Drug Program and on the Value Formulary.

  • On the Select Drug Program, Flovent HFA/Diskus will now be non-preferred and will require a prior authorization requiring documentation of inadequate response or inability to tolerate Arnuity Ellipta® and Pulmicort Flexhaler®.
  • On the Value Formulary, Flovent HFA/Diskus will be non-formulary.


Drug manufacturer GlaxoSmithKline recently notified the FDA that they would be discontinuing Flovent Diskus and Flovent HFA. The last date these products will be available for ordering is December 31, 2023.

Vyvanse®

Vyvanse is a central nervous system (CNS) stimulant indicated for the treatment of:

  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in adults and pediatric patients 6 years and older
  • Moderate to severe binge eating disorder (BED) in adults


Effective January 1, 2024, Vyvanse will no longer be preferred on the Select Drug Program and on the Value Formulary.

  • On the Select Drug Program, Vyvanse will now be non-preferred and will require a prior authorization.
  • On the Value Formulary, Vyvanse will be non-formulary.


Note: The generic version of Vyvanse, lisdexamfetamine, and multiple generic stimulants are available.
