Starting in 2024: New member ID card structure

As part of our transition to a new operating platform, we will issue new ID cards to members with a new ID number and structure.

Starting January 1, 2024, new ID cards will be issued as members are moved to the new platform. As a result, you will see a mix of ID cards until all members are on the new platform. We encourage you to ask for a copy of the member's ID card at each visit and use the Eligibility & Benefits transaction on PEAR Practice Management (PM) to confirm eligibility. You can also view an image of the member's ID card via PEAR PM. Claims submitted with an old ID number after the new card is effective will be denied with this message: “Member did not have eligible coverage." If this occurs, please obtain the new ID number from the member and resubmit the claim.

Please share this information with those individuals who handle claims submission or submit claims on your behalf to ensure there are no backend system implications.

New ID card structure

We will issue new cards with a new member-level ID number during our phased transition to the new platform.

Over time, each member will be issued an eight-digit subscription ID and a ten-digit member ID. The member ID uses the eight-digit subscription ID as its base. Examples are shown below.

Subscription IDMember IDMember type
123456781234567800Self/Subscriber
123456781234567801Spouse
123456781234567802Dependent
234567892345678900Self/Subscriber
234567892345678903Dependent

Important notes:

  • The new ID number will be at the member level not the subscriber level.
  • The subscriber ID will always end in 00. The ID for everyone else on the subscription will end with a number starting with 01, regardless of their relationship to the subscriber.
  • For members who enroll in one of the new AmeriHealth Medicare plans for 2024, we will issue an ID card with the new structure.
  • All members will need to present their new ID card upon first use starting in 2024. New ID cards will be distributed throughout the platform transition as a member's plan renews. If the member has not yet received their card, they can access an image of their new ID card on the member portal.
  • Claims submitted with an old ID number after the new card is effective will be denied with this message: “Member did not have eligible coverage.” If this occurs, please obtain the new ID number from the member and resubmit the claim.
