AmeriHealth has confirmed that one of its service providers, Change Healthcare, is experiencing a network interruption related to a cyber security issue. In addition to being a service provider of AmeriHealth, Change Healthcare is used by many of our electronic trading partners, such as large provider systems. Change Healthcare has reported that its experts are working to address the matter, and AmeriHealth is closely monitoring this incident as it evolves.
Change Healthcare also reported that once they identified the issue, they took prompt action to disconnect systems from external business partners to prevent additional impact. We have no evidence of any impact to the AmeriHealth network security as a result of this issue; however, in an abundance of caution, AmeriHealth also terminated any connections with Change Healthcare, and we continue to actively monitor our system security.
Due to the Change Healthcare security issue, providers may not be able to validate eligibility and benefits or claim status using EDI standard transactions. Providers will continue to be able to obtain similar information using Practice Management in the PEAR portal or by calling Provider Customer Service at 1-888-YOUR-AH1 (1-888-968-7241) for AmeriHealth members in New Jersey or 1-800-275-2583 for AmeriHealth members in Pennsylvania. Providers may also be delayed in submitting claims for reimbursement, using EDI standard transactions, until the issue is resolved. AmeriHealth is identifying any necessary mitigation steps, to help ensure minimal impact to the services we provide, while this active investigation is ongoing. We will provide relevant updates as they become available.
