​​​​Effective January 1, 2024, AmeriHealth HMO, Inc., AmeriHealth Insurance Company of New Jersey, and AmeriHealth Administrators will retire pharmacy policy #Rx.01.94: Weight Loss Agents and replace it with a new policy: #Rx.01.280: Obesity Management​.

The new policy is a phased approach that includes a tiered authorization process to help ensure our members, your patients, have long-term sustainable success with weight-loss medications. The process includes lifestyle management, trial of alternative treatments, drug adherence, and other features to ensure the expected clinical outcomes.

These changes apply to Commercial members who have pharmacy coverage for obesity management and who use the Select Drug Program® or Value Formulary. This does not apply to the Premium Formulary. Individual coverage and benefits vary by product and group and should be verified.
