Effective July 1, 2022, AmeriHealth New Jersey has updated its medical policy on telemedicine and telehealth services for its members.
The policy criteria were updated to:
- Allow two-way audio communication to be covered when reported without store and forward communications
- To clarify asynchronous telemedicine/telehealth is covered when the intent is to allow the member to be evaluated and managed by a provider without physically being present
- To clarify telemedicine and telehealth services are covered for medically necessary services provided with the same standard of care requirements or practice standards as if the services were provided in person
- To clarify capitation rules still apply
The following codes were added to the not eligible for reimbursement header: 99441, 99442, 99443.
