​Provider offices are encouraged to review and understand member dental benefits for oral surgery services. Prior to providing oral surgery services, it is important to determine if the member's primary coverage will be under the dental or medical benefit.

If oral surgery procedures, including the extraction of bony impacted teeth, are covered and should be reimbursed by the member's dental plan, AmeriHealth benefit plans allow for recovery of the medical payment.*

*Self-funded groups have the option not to participate in dental coordination of benefits. The above reminder may not apply to all self-funded groups.
