​COVID-19 (Coronavirus): Vaccine coverage and reimbursement

Several pharmaceutical companies have developed vaccines that have shown efficacy in preventing COVID-19. Distribution of approved COVID-19 vaccines will be controlled by the U.S Government, who will collaborate with local and state governments to deliver it to providers.

Reimbursement rules for the vaccine and its administration:

  • The vaccine will be distributed by the U.S. Government at no charge and will not be eligible for reimbursement by AmeriHealth.

  • AmeriHealth will cover the administration of approved COVID-19 vaccines as a preventive service with $0 cost-share (i.e., copayment, deductible, and coinsurance). We will reimburse the vaccine administration cost as a preventive service.
